echinocereus

(propagated plants & seeds)

Echinocereus Photos:

There are a lot of different shapes sizes and growing patterns in this group and a wide range of flower colors too. This diverse genus grows through out the western United States and parts of Mexico in a wide range of soil, temperature and light conditions. Many of them will flower well as house plants, and grow faster than many other kinds of cacti. It is important to keep them very dry in the cool weather season and they will noticeably shrink during their winter resting period. Shrinkage is a normal part of their cycle of life and in nature this helps them survive freezing winter temperatures.
