good locations

Epiphyllum guatemalense puts out curly, wavy multiple stems from the base of the plant, and they grow to about a meter wide. Sometimes new stems start to grow at the ends of old stems and these are good locations to take cutting and root new plants. Among epiphyte varieties guatemalense has one of the most unique and interesting appearances as a spray of wavy stems. Growing to a few feet high and about 3 feet across they become a fitting window hanging basket plant. Sometime this species of Cacti is called "Curly White Night" as a common name.

The flowers Epiphyllum guatemalense makes are long slender funnels with small white petals producing a bloom less than a few inches across. As a house plant they will make flowers almost any time of the year, but tend to make only one flower at a time.

NOTE: The Epiphyllum Guatemalense offered for sale is atypical for this species, because the flowers are self fertile and usually do not open. An appreciation for the beauty of these plants is less for the flowers and more for the stems.

size

These plants are a few feet wide with an established root system, and it will work well in a hanging basket or in a space with room to sprawl.
