Potential living space locations include; East, West or South windows and three to four season rooms with partial shade are good, but it will grow better with more light. This species will tolerate very cool days and cold nights, but will need the temperatures to remain above 36 °F. It is possible for this variety to survive freezing temperatures, but cold exposure will cause skin damage. If this variety is to be set outdoors during the growing season it needs to be in a location with plenty of sun and will tolerate lots of rain.

Individual stems get little more that a few inches wide and remain shorter than a few inches too. This plant grows into a multiple stem mound which can grow up to about five inches wide and four inches high.
